In 2010 Simon read Kevin Telfer's book Peter Pan's First XI: The Extraordinary Story of J.M. Barrie's Cricket Team. Simon, a lawyer, said to his friend Andrew, not a lawyer, 'Let's do it'.
Simon invited 10 of his friends who are lawyers, and Andrew invited 10 of his friends in the arts. The two Captains agreed on Rules. They found two accredited umpires (a lawyer and an artist), an enthusiastic scorer (neither lawyer nor artist), and a venue: Trumper Park. Game on, November 2011 and every year since (except for the 2020 Covid-induced postponement to March 2021).
